English Breakfast Tea is an aromatic and very popular black tea blend, known for its full-bodied flavor and invigorating effect. An indispensable part of English tea culture, this traditional blend consists of Assam, Ceylon, South Indian, Iranian, and Kenyan teas, which together create this balanced and highly aromatic tea.

Its taste is spicy, strong, and stimulating, with a slightly floral undertone. In the cup, the tea appears in a stately reddish-brown. English Breakfast Tea is one of the most popular tea blends worldwide and is also very popular in German-speaking countries.

History and Origin of the Name

The origins of English Breakfast Tea are not entirely clear. One version states that the blend was created in the 1840s in New York by a British immigrant named Richard Davies. Another source places its origin in Scotland around 1892, where the tea was initially simply called "Breakfast Tea." Its popularity grew after Queen Victoria tasted it at Balmoral Castle and brought it back to England.

Special Features

English Breakfast Tea is characterized by its strong, distinctive, often malty taste; compared to other tea varieties, it appears particularly robust and full-bodied. Its caffeine content is generally higher than that of other black teas, contributing to its invigorating effect and making it ideal for morning enjoyment. Traditionally, it is specifically designed to be drunk with milk and sugar with a hearty English breakfast. However, it also goes perfectly with afternoon tea, for example, with a delicious piece of cake!

Preparation for a Powerful Start to the Day

For the perfect cup of English Breakfast Tea, we recommend:

  • Add about 14g of tea leaves per liter to the pot.
  • Brew with fresh, bubbling boiling water.
  • Let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on the desired strength.
  • A second and third infusion is easily possible.

Enjoy the tea plain or traditionally with a dash of milk and optionally with a little sugar or rock candy – or with a little lemon and honey!

Storage

To best preserve the aroma, please store the tea in a cool, dry, and dark place, away from coffee and spices. Carefully reseal the packaging after opening. When stored correctly, the English Breakfast Tea black tea leaf blend has a shelf life of approx. 24 months.

Ingredients

English Breakfast Tea black tea leaf blend consists exclusively of high-quality black tea varieties. It naturally contains caffeine (theine) and is free from artificial additives.

Enjoy the invigorating power of English Breakfast Tea and start your day full of energy!
